Thursday, Feb. 9

Many students were missing today. We were productive, anyway, learning a new card game and getting our ancestor collage ready to glue!

Homework: Complete Venn diagram comparing cultures - due Monday

Upcoming Events:
Valentine's Day! We will do a brief Valentine exchange on Tuesday. No real time to party, since after lunch is P.E., followed by painting our totems.
Here are our names for your cards: Tim, Tasha, Devyn, Alexis, Darcey, Mikala, Cameron, Taylor M., Taylor P., Kiernan, Maya, Alexander, Ajay, Bryce, Everett, Tyson, Olivia, Killian, Emma, Kennedy, Alex, Jessica, Maia, Faivah and Julia.

Students' Council is holding a Valentine's Day dance after school.

Phrase that pays (when written in your planner in today's space): Will you be mine?

See you Monday!

Thursday, Feb. 2 - The Groundhog saw his shadow, I've heard!

Tomorrow is our second day of ski/boarding. The weather looks fine!

Our Courage and Conquest (home reading) review was a disappointment to mark. Was lack of preparation the cause?

Upcoming Events:

Student pairs are challenged with discovering Nakusp's historical buildings. We have photos of their earliest years to compare, in our walkabouts, to the present buildings. The goal is to see which pair can discover the current business housed in the original building.

I made up the quiz a few years ago and was puzzled when I had a look at it again, so it's hard!

Next Monday, we will hold our Roller Derby. That is rolling dry beans in a can down an inclined plane to see which rolls farthest, an empty, a full or somewhere in between can. I know the answer to that one!

Phrase that pays (when written in your planner in today's space): Which can will roll the farthest?

See you Monday!

I'm back. Are you still there?

I'll be checking in more regularly again.
Today, on our Monday walk, we slopped through slushy streets. It was hard work!

S.S. - Venn diagram comparing our culture to that of the Shetland Islands
Home Reading - Lesson 10 - The Seigneury AND test on Thursday, based on lessons 1-10

Upcoming Events: Skiing again on Friday. Remember that you need a note to go home any way other than on the bus.

Phrase that pays (when written in your planner in today's space): Is it spring yet?

See you tomorrow!

Thursday, Jan. 5

We have been working really hard at reviewing math operations. Today, we did line-drawing partner portraits, where the drawer could neither look at the paper nor lift the pencil from it. They are whacky and should be beautiful once coloured.

Homework: Subtraction sheet, chapter 7 Stranger, S.S. test tomorrow and map of Canada due tomorrow.

Upcoming Events: Still no dates for skiing.

Phrase that pays (when written in your planner in today's space): Today, it's multiplication!

See you tomorrow!
