Saturday evening!

Great week, everyone. We are settling down nicely and getting busy with some work.

Coming events: Open house this week. There will be time to visit the classroom and book fair, then go to the cakewalk.

Homework:

  • I don't usually assign homework on the weekend, unless a poorly completed assignment needs to be re-done.
  • Parents, please check your child's homework (planner and blog when I write one!). I remind everyone to get their books out at the end of the day, but sometimes it is forgotten. I am usually at school until at least 4:30, so it is easy for a child to return to pick up any forgotten books.

Phrase that pays (in planner on the week-end space): We are doing a puzzling assignment this week.

Have a great Sunday! See you on Monday.

Happy Monday!

This is our first full week of school, except for the Terry Fox run on Friday. Look for homework. Unless otherwise stated, homework is due the day following its assignment. Usually 'homework' is completion of in-class assignments.

Remember to bring in your Terry Fox donations. Win yourself/me that t-shirt!

Homework:

  • Grade 6 band instruments tonight in the Bonnington!
  • Science - charts of field trip activities.

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): Things are getting quieter in the classroom!

See you tomorrow!

Later on Sunday...

Me again! (See today's earlier blog.)

I forgot to give huge thanks to the mothers (and dads) who baked for the field trip. Deliicious! I have frozen the extra so there is probably enough for the next party without much effort. Thank you!

And parents should all know that the kids were on their very good behaviour...my expectations were reached! Thanks kids!

See you tomorrow again!

Sunday morning!

Good field trip work, everyone! Your different papers are thoughtful and colourful.

Special thanks to all of you parents - Tammy, Desiree, Mel, MIchelle, Crystal, Sonia, Jodi (on your birthday), Cheryl, Dan and Susie,You get a Top Parents award from me! The weather muses smiled on us, so you must bring luck as well.

The first full week of school is coming up! We will be doing a lot of finish up/follow up work from the field trip. Writing, math, wow!

The Terry Fox run is coming up on Friday at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join us. All students bringing in a donation has their name entered into a draw for a BEAUTIFUL - the best I've seen yet - Terry Fox t-shirt.

Phrase that pays: Mrs. Grout is paying $20 to buy the Terry Fox t-shirt from its winner.

See you tomorrow!

It's a big week!

Tomorrow is the triathlon. Remember to send proper equipment and clothing and a water bottle with your child.

Thursday is the field trip to my house. Please send good walking footwear and clothing for different weather conditions. Students will also need a water bottle. If you are a parent who is attending but not wishing to walk, that's fine. You will (maybe) need a map. We will arrive at my house at approximately 9:45 - in time for recess snack and tour. The activities should begin just after 10.

Friday is an N.I. day.

Homework (due tomorrow):

  1. Science - title page
  2. Science - water concepts

Please return verification forms. Don't forget to sign the back!

See you tomorrow!

Happy sunny weekend!

We got very organized this week. All books, pencils, extras, etc. are labelled and stored. Students are in, hopefully, productive working groups and we have started reviewing spelling and math facts.

HOMEWORK:

  1. Explain about the get out of jail free cards and make sure to have any missing school supplies by Monday when they take effect.
  2. Complete and return field trip forms.

Reminders of upcoming events:

  • Triathlon on Wednesday afternoon. Please ensure that your child has proper footwear and clothing for the event. Most of the students in the class are involved. The rest will act as cheering spectators.
  • Thank you to the many parents who indicated that you will come along on Thursday's field trip. Please complete the permission and lunch forms and return a.s.a.p.
  • Friday is an N.I. (school-based) day. Yes, already!

Phrase that pays (written in planner on Saturday's or Sunday's spot and shown first thing Monday morning): I have explained about the Get Out of Jail Free cards to my parent(s).

Enjoy your weekend and see you Monday!

What a beautiful day! Great self-portraits and pretty quick math facts drill.

We are settling down a little bit. We'll see what tomorrow is like with groups.

I would like to have a field trip to watch the Kokanee and do other sciencey activities next Thursday, Sept. 17. Are any parents interested in coming along to supervise an activity?

Phrase that pays (when written in planner in today's space by parent:  I would/would not be able to come on Thursday. (Signature in planner).

This is sort of a hint as to whether or not I should make plans, as I know many more moms are working these days.

See you tomorrow!

Good morning, everyone! Welcome to the blog. Can you see how early I was up to write this message?

I hope you and your parent(s) read the blog every night.

Phrase that pays (when written on today's spot in your planner and shown to me): A pumpkin or a ball?

Write that down!
