Tuesday night. Oh, I'm sorry it's so late, but...

I have no excuse.

Homework (and, hopefully, you already have finished it independent of this blog):

Tuck Everlasting - 3 questions for chapters 12, 13 and 14

Please bring in ALL magazine orders and money tomorrow. We want it to count!

Pumpkins will come in on Thursday for measuring and graphing. We will carve them and count seeds on Friday.

Friday's party will be a small event. We will eat left-over field trip delicacies and watch a movie.

There is a dance on Friday afternoon, after school. Attendance is $1.00 with a costume (or colourful clothing) and $2.00 in ordinary clothing.

Phrase that pays: Please let me help you eat that chocolate, Mrs. Grout!

See you tomorrow!

Rainy Saturday!

I have just finished marking the first term reading assessments! Well done, everyone. I am really impressed by the amount of writing you did for each question.

Homework:

NONE!!! It's the weekend, after all.

The pumpkins are holding up well in the garage, so no pumpkin math this week, which is a good thing, since it's student-led conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Any parents wishing or willing to come in to help with the pumpkin math are welcome. It's a busy, busy day! Hopefully, it will take place on Thursday, October 29, in the morning.

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): Have I brought my conference confirmation back yet? 2 points for a yes.

See you Monday!

It's already Thursday! We have had a busy three days. It feels like the ball is finally rolling!

Some students are not remembering to take/do/return homework on a regular basis!

Homework:

  • S.S. title page is due tomorrow.
  • Tuck Everlasting - read to end of chapter 11 for tomorrow.

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): I have given my parent(s) my student-led conference time!

See you tomorrow!

Chilly Friday afternoon becomes freezing Friday night. Here are four of the students with their picture entries for the Kootenay calendar - Why I Love the Kootenays is this year's theme.
The artwork was wonderfully varied and bright. It would be great if one of them was chosen for the calendar!

Chilly Friday!

What a glorious fall we have had so far. But, with colder weather, students need to be dressed to play outdoors during recess and lunch. Many were caught off-guard this morning without warm clothing.

Magazine sales have started! Students may bring in money on any day to make sure it is safe.

Homework:

  • Tuck Everlasting first two questions due Tuesday a.m.
  • Math addition sheet due Tuesday afternoon.
  • Math test on Thursday, including place value, number dictation, addition, subtraction and word problems.
  • S.S. - Canada's territories and provinces and capital cities, due Wednesday.

State of the Pumpkins Address: Depending on their holding value, I will continue to postpone the pumpkin math unit until as close to Hallowe'en as I can. Until then, we will continue to work on measurement.

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): Turkey!

Have a great Thanksgiving weekend! See you on Tuesday!

Chilly Tuesday afternoon!

Homework:

  • Tomorrow is the last day to bring puzzle pieces. We put them together, then present them on Thursday.
  • Tuck Everlasting - answer questions1, 2 & 3 (due tomorrow)
  • Math - subtraction 1 page, due Thursday

We have a reprieve on pumpkin math and carving. They weren't as damaged as I first thought, so we won't do the math until at least next week, keeping an eye out for decay on them.

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): 1 interruption = 5 minutes.
See you tomorrow!

Lovely Monday!

Well, except for the excessive chatter. We really need to work on that.

Homework:

  • Puzzle pieces will be finished in class in a 15-minute period on Wednesday, so ALL pieces must be here. There will only be time to put them together, not to find things for them.
  • Math - two-sided place value sheet is due tomorrow. POW is also due tomorrow.

Thursday between recess and 2 p.m. is pumpkin math day. The frost nipped the pumpkins last night, so time is of the essence. We'll carve on Friday and anyone can/may take the creations home and hold them in the deep freezer until Hallowe'en morning or evening. They'll thaw and be fine for that night at least.

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): I will not interrupt today. My treat will be determined at the end of the day.

Going home to rescue pumpkins!

See you tomorrow!

  • Thursday evening. Sore throat.
  • Long time, no blog. Sorry.
  • Sorry for the late correspondence, but I have had difficulty logging in. The school district server isn't recognizing me. Hmmmm...
  • Homework? Novel study vocabulary - only three words!
  • Phrase that pays (you know where and when): Hi, Mrs. Ponto. I will do my best today.
  • See you on Monday, throat allowing!
