Monday afternoon.

Great day. Students worked hard on some confusing ideas. I think most understand the concept of longitude and latitude...tough going.

We heard some wonderful family histories.

Tomorrow, we read with the kindergarten classes. We have chosen favourite books from our own early years.

Homework:

  • Math: Finish the full side of multiplication assigned last Thursday, due tomorrow.
  • Reading/novel study: Read to the end of chapter 12 by tomorrow!
  • S.S. - Finish the mapping assignment on longitude and latitude, due Wednesday.

Raining here...snowing up there?

I am trying to be more regular with the blog, but some days just slip away...

We have begun multiplication and are feeling successful. Those who don't have good recall of their facts are struggling a bit.

Our ski days are Thursdays. Mrs. McQuair will take the students as she is a skier who can help on the hill. I will stay behind with her class.

Homework:

  • Social Studies - Family History questionnaire - about your first family member who immigrated to Canada from Europe. We will use this information in a variety of ways, so the more you can supply, the better! DUE MONDAY, JANUARY 25
  • Reading - We start a new novel tomorrow, so expect homework in reading at least two nights a week.

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): It feels like March without the warmth.

Good Tuesday afternoon. And I'm (and we're) back!

I hope that everyone enjoyed their gift calendar. We spent what seemed like months on them, when it was only a very intense five weeks. I love them and wish I had my own!

Homework:

  • S.S. calendar test on Friday - need to be able to recognize art styles and know names, countries of origin (including the position on the map), their original purpose and materials.
  • Reading - Compare Tuck Everlasting movie and book, due tomorrow!

The Battle of the Books teams have been organized. I'm pleased to say  that, of 11 participants, five are from our room! Way to go, readers!

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): We're back in the school groove!

See you tomorrow!
