Totally Tuesday...

whatever that means.

Please remind me if you are sending/bringing a cake for the cake walk. I accidentally erased the list of volunteers. Thank you.

Speaking of cake walk, Thursday is jam-packed with events. The Terry Fox run is at 2 p.m. The Book Fair runs during the day and in the evening, Open House - Meet the Teacher Night begins at 6:30 p.m. in the gym with a greeting from Mr. Harding. At 6:40, classrooms are opened for parental tours and the library is opened for the Book Fair. The Cake Walk begins at 7 p.m. in the gym.

Homework:

Math - finish the subtraction sheet and correct by adding up.

Novel Study - Read chapters 4, 5 and 6 and be ready to find and write Golden Lines tomorrow. Any finished work would be appreciated. Otherwise, your assignment is due first thing Thursday morning.

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): The forest mural is fabulously fantastically full!

See you tomorrow!

Totally Thursday (??)

Correction! The Terry Fox run is NOT tomorrow. It's next Thursday, the same day as the Open House. Of course, you probably already know that.

We have begun a novel study of Bridge to Terabithia. We will read chapters in groups of three, then do a written assignment. Novel study days are Tuesday and Thursday, with an extra reading/working period on Fridays, when possible. Most students will have some homework during the week with assignments due on Monday and Wednesday or Thursday mornings, depending on the volume of the assignment.

Homework:

Math - finish addition page for tomorrow's marking.

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): We paint our trees on Friday!

See you Monday!

We made progress in science! Some information about ecosystems...Collected some leaves and are ready for rubbings and painting trunks.

Terry Fox run on Friday.

Homework:

Math - rounding to estimate sums; first row due tomorrow

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): My mom or dad (choose one) can or can't bake a cake for open house. (Moms please initial.)

See you tomorrow!

Soggy Saturday

Montana Robins is peer tutoring in our class. She is just getting to know the students. Some, she knows already.

We made it through our first full week without any hitches...except, maybe, for homework not being finished.

Thursday's field trip was one of the most enjoyable I have had. This year's class is really responsible and dependable (except for math homework, that is). We will work on the projects we started and, eventually, create a large forest mural for the wall, with the theme being diversity. Thanks to parents who sent goodies and came with us.

Homework: None. It's the weekend. Play!

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): None. It's the weekend.

See you Monday!

Wonderful Wednesday! (Have I used that one before?)

Homework:

Math - Pages 8, 9, 10 - due Friday, so pace yourselves!

French - colouring is fun and practise is important!

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): No rain, please!

See you tomorrow!

Marvellous Monday!

Is anyone as exhausted as I am? And hungry? No more constant grazing.

Reminders: Field trip forms should be in by now. Please remember your lunch money. Triathlon will run on Friday. Please remember your permission slips for tomorrow's registration.

Homework:

Math - One Grain of Rice. Show all work. Find the daily rice grain number then add it to the cumulative number on the right. Work carefully! One error will cause everything that follows to be wrong.

French - Practise your numbers for a few minutes; complete the weather page illustrations and practise them, too!

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): One grain of rice really adds up!

See you tomorrow!

Terrific Thursday!

Our chalk portraits are looking great!

We are doing a French calendar daily with Renee at the helm and so far have learned greetings and other small talk, and a bit of weather vocabulary.

I am impressed with the number of returned permission slips, but still need more in, please.

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): Kokanee are landlocked Sockeye salmon.

See you tomorrow!

Wonderful Wednesday afternoon!

I am really grateful to all of you for making the first full day fun. Thanks!

The 'rules' are on the wall and the glue on the pictures is drying nicely.

Please make sure that you give your parent(s) the field trip form and encourage them to come along.

Phrase that pays (in your planner on today's space): I will pay attention to our class 'rules'.

See you tomorrow!

Three days left! Have lots of fun with them.

I have seen the band schedule and it is complicated. There are three different time slots on two days with a rotation every 8 days. Got it? It took four adults to figure it out together. Luckily, you don't have to know what times exactly. Just know that band is on Mondays and Wednesdays (unless something changes in the meantime). Sometimes, you won't even have assembly on Monday mornings.

Phrase that pays (in your head since you don't have a planner yet): The Kokanee are in the creek.

Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday!
